The two events will explore the contention that the FAIR guiding principles, and their application through FAIR Digital Objects, are important steps to maximise the machine actionability of data and other information.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The co-organisers of the 2nd FAIR Convergence Symposium,<a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/codata.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1657879428620000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1qNyeqTTTF8svcvhTozExD\">\u00a0CODATA<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.go-fair.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.go-fair.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1657879428620000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0P2IeFxjyTmrrwNlky8jMH\">GO FAIR<\/a>, agreed that this years\u2019 edition will concentrate on <strong>smaller, high-priority, strategic and working meetings to encourage convergence on and implementation of FAIR<\/strong>, rather than convening a large open Symposium so soon after International Data Week and in the context of ongoing challenges for intercontinental travel.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the meetings will be organised as hybrid events, allowing for both in-person and online participation.<\/p>\n<p>The following meetings and events are being planned and should form the FAIR Convergence part of the week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/events\/conferences\/fair-convergence-symposium-2022\/data-policy-in-times-of-crisis\/\">Workshop convened by the CODATA International Data Policy Committee<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/events\/conferences\/fair-convergence-symposium-2022\/fips-in-worldfair-what-have-we-learnt\/\">Plenary meeting of WorldFAIR case studies<\/a>, targeted in particular on outcomes of the FAIR Implementation Profile workshops organised as part of the project deliverables;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/events\/conferences\/fair-convergence-symposium-2022\/fair-connect-demo-and-discussion\/\">Demo of FAIR Connect<\/a>, an Open Access publishing platform for the development and dissemination of good practices for professional FAIR-Data stewardship;<\/li>\n<li>Report on the series of <a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/events\/conferences\/fair-convergence-symposium-2022\/convergence-in-envri-fair-using-fips\/\">FAIR assessments of data and services of the ENVRI Research Infrastructures<\/a> using FAIR Implementation Profiles and on its impact on the FAIRification roadmap of ENVRI-FAIR;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">In-person meeting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/initiatives\/data-together\/oscer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/codata.org\/initiatives\/data-together\/oscer\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1657879428620000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3Del91ve5bDHPwE7mvIXE7\">Open Science Clouds Executives Roundtable<\/a> (OSCER), a group of OSC executives convened following agreement to create such a group at the 1st FAIR Convergence Symposium;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">Meeting of Directors (and key staff) of the GO FAIR National Support Offices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The above list is not exhaustive and other interactive and working meetings may be added to contribute to convergence on selected aspects of FAIR implementation.<\/p>\n<h3>Programme Overview and Registration<\/h3>\n<p>Final\u00a0overview of the FAIR Convergence Symposium programme is available for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1NcQB4a61asUEGeVjZxRx-TbUBiKLUdT6\/view?usp=share_link\">download from here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Most of the Symposium events are marked as Open sessions. Recordings of the events will be available shortly after the Symposium.<\/b>\r\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\">From 24-28 October, in the context of <\/span><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/leiden2022.nl\/\"><span class=\"\">Leiden 2022: European City of Science<\/span><\/a><span class=\"\">,<\/span><span class=\"\"> there will be <strong>a <\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"\">week dedicated to FAIR <\/span><span class=\"\">implementation and specifically to FAIR Digital Objects<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"\"> as the core \u2018machine actionable units of information\u2019 necessary to build an Internet and Web of FAIR data and services. <\/span><span class=\"\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.go-fair.org\/events\/hotzone-week-on-fair-at-leiden-2022-european-city-of-science\/\">week features two closely related events<\/a>: the <\/span><strong><span class=\"\">2nd FAIR Convergence Symposium<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"\"> (24-26 October) and the<\/span><strong><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fdo2022.org\/\"> <span class=\"\">1st<\/span> <span class=\"\">International Conference on FAIR Digital Objects<\/span><\/a><\/strong> <span class=\"\">(26-28 October). The two events will explore the contention that the FAIR guiding principles, and their application through FAIR Digital Objects, are important steps to maximise the machine actionability of data and other information.<\/span><\/div>\r\n<div><\/div>\r\n<div>\r\n\r\nThe co-organisers of the 2nd FAIR Convergence Symposium,<a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/codata.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1657879428620000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1qNyeqTTTF8svcvhTozExD\">\u00a0CODATA<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.go-fair.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.go-fair.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1657879428620000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0P2IeFxjyTmrrwNlky8jMH\">GO FAIR<\/a>, agreed that this years\u2019 edition will concentrate on <strong>smaller, high-priority, strategic and working meetings to encourage convergence on and implementation of FAIR<\/strong>, rather than convening a large open Symposium so soon after International Data Week and in the context of ongoing challenges for intercontinental travel.\r\n\r\nMost of the meetings will be organised as hybrid events, allowing for both in-person and online participation.\r\n\r\nThe following meetings and events are being planned and should form the FAIR Convergence part of the week:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/events\/conferences\/fair-convergence-symposium-2022\/data-policy-in-times-of-crisis\/\">Workshop convened by the CODATA International Data Policy Committee<\/a>;<\/li>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/events\/conferences\/fair-convergence-symposium-2022\/fips-in-worldfair-what-have-we-learnt\/\">Plenary meeting of WorldFAIR case studies<\/a>, targeted in particular on outcomes of the FAIR Implementation Profile workshops organised as part of the project deliverables;<\/li>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/events\/conferences\/fair-convergence-symposium-2022\/fair-connect-demo-and-discussion\/\">Demo of FAIR Connect<\/a>, an Open Access publishing platform for the development and dissemination of good practices for professional FAIR-Data stewardship;<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Report on the series of <a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/events\/conferences\/fair-convergence-symposium-2022\/convergence-in-envri-fair-using-fips\/\">FAIR assessments of data and services of the ENVRI Research Infrastructures<\/a> using FAIR Implementation Profiles and on its impact on the FAIRification roadmap of ENVRI-FAIR;<\/li>\r\n \t<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">In-person meeting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/initiatives\/data-together\/oscer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/codata.org\/initiatives\/data-together\/oscer\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1657879428620000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3Del91ve5bDHPwE7mvIXE7\">Open Science Clouds Executives Roundtable<\/a> (OSCER), a group of OSC executives convened following agreement to create such a group at the 1st FAIR Convergence Symposium;<\/li>\r\n \t<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">Meeting of Directors (and key staff) of the GO FAIR National Support Offices.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThe above list is not exhaustive and other interactive and working meetings may be added to contribute to convergence on selected aspects of FAIR implementation.\r\n<h3>Programme Overview and Registration<\/h3>\r\nFinal\u00a0overview of the FAIR Convergence Symposium programme is available for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1NcQB4a61asUEGeVjZxRx-TbUBiKLUdT6\/view?usp=share_link\">download from here.<\/a>\r\n\r\nMost of the Symposium events are marked as Open sessions.
