The GO FAIR office in Leiden is organising a meeting introducing a FAIR Funder Implementation Study. This meeting will focus on the challenges that funders face when assessing the quality of FAIR data stewardship plans and the levels of FAIRness of research outputs.
\nIn the interest of catalyzing community convergence on FAIR data and services, the goal of this meeting is to coordinate and align ongoing initiatives within research funding organisations who may be interested to take part in the FAIR Funder Implementation Study.<\/p>\n

Background<\/strong>
\nIn October 2018, the GO FAIR office in Leiden organised its first Metadata for Machines Workshop<\/a>. During this workshop, a consortium of international stakeholders (including two European research funding agencies) conceived the FAIR Funder Implementation Study to demonstrate how existing technologies can be combined to allow Funders to realistically mandate, and grantees to realistically produce FAIR research outputs. By February 2019 the consortium had articulated a bottom-up, multi-stakeholder workflow that combines existing tools enabling a complete turn of the FAIR Funding cycle. Results from this collective investigation were reported (https:\/\/arxiv.org\/pdf\/1902.11162v2.pdf<\/a>) and steps towards implementation, though currently without formal sponsorship, are ongoing.<\/p>\n
